Fast Trains!

"Train systems are expensive, and nobody uses 'em anyway"

It is a little bit of the ‘chicken and the egg’ conundrum.

Admittedly, train systems are more expensive to build per mile than simple two lane highways, particularly in countries with expensive material costs, heavy regulations and permitting requirements.

However, if more train systems were built, they would get cheaper per mile, and with a better network of trains comes better service, more reliablity, etc. — therefore more people would actually use the train system, thereby increasing the economic viability of the system.

Japan, France, UK, Spain all got it right. It is time for the people of North America to take notice.
