No More Solar Installations in the Desert.

"Deserts are just dead spaces of sand, rock, cactus and tumbleweed ... just bulldoze the land and cover 'em with solar panels"

This is certainly an example of: The Solar Industry is not ALWAYS right.

To date, millions of acres of natural / wild spaces have been taken over (and mostly rendered sterile for wildlife) to put in solar and wind power plants. Furthermore, CSP solar plants (mostly in arid / desert environments) kill thousands of birds every year.

Almost EVERY rooftop in the industrialized world is eligible for some form of solar thermal and/or solar PV technologies.

Surely we should NOT be covering any more of our precious wild spaces with renewable energy generation until we have used all of this ‘dead’ space first?

While these rooftop installations are often not sufficient to heat / power the entire structure, even if it’s only a fraction, it is essential to adopt this universal approach.

And of course, it is always preferable to generate the power where you need it … AT the building location.
